题目:Discrete geodesics

报告人:Ying He,  Nanyang Technological University,  Singapore

摘要:Geodesic is a generalization of straight line to curved space. Computing geodesic on triangle meshes plays an important role in many graphics applications, such as surface parameterization, shape analysis, retrieval, texture mapping, sampling, just name a few. In the first half of the talk, I will introduce our recent progress on discrete geodesic algorithms, including geodesic offset, geodesic loop, all-pairs geodesics, robust geodesics algorithm on broken meshes, parallel geodesic. Then, in the second part, I will show some applications, such as discrete exponential map, Poisson disk sampling, and medical imaging analysis. I will also discuss some interesting future directions at the end of the talk. This is a joint work with my PhD students and postdoctoral research fellow, Shi-Qing Xin, Xiang Ying and Dao T.P. Quynh.

 

报告人简历:Dr. Ying He is an associate professor at School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He obtained his PhD degree in computer science from Stony Brook University, and MS and BS degrees in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University. His research interests fall into the general areas of visual computing. He is particularly interested in the problems which require geometric analysis and computation. He has applied geometric approaches to a wide spectrum of engineering fields, including computer graphics, computer-aided design, multimedia, wireless networking, and medical imaging.
